WALSALL RFA 2ND YEAR ANNIVERSARY -

A poem by Rev Dr. Kevin Hocking

REFLECTING ON RFA

So here we are, after 2 years of church,

And what a blessing, to be just a part;

We may still be few, but it’s quality, not quantity,

And we know God completes what He starts.

Redemption Faith Assemblies, yes, that’s who we are,

And we meet at the Travelodge, Walsall;

But that won’t be for long, we’ll soon have our own place,

And the blessings and joy will be more so.

At the head of the Church, Bishop Newland resides

So powerful, anointed and caring;

His preaching is awesome, so deep and so sharp,

Yet with practical points we can share in.

His talent for preaching is up with the best,

So his service is much in demand;

We’re so blessed to be led, by this great man of God,

Without pride, though he’s famed through the land.

He is ably assisted by Reverend Mark Pearce,

Another most powerful preacher;

With a heart for the people and a musical gift,

He’s also a wonderful teacher.

He’s passionate, excited, in all that he does,

Whether preaching or leading or playing;

As father of two, or keeper for All Saints,

Or empowering the church, when he’s praying.

Of course he wouldn’t be, where he’s got to today,

If it weren’t for his lovely wife Debbie;

Although she’s so humble you won’t hear her say it,

She’s a most gifted worker – and ready!

Much more than a mother and helpmeet to Mark,

Her commitment to church is amazing;

Organizing and Admin she takes in her stride,

While her love for the Lord keeps on blazing.

Then we also have Julie – so much more than a Porter!

Who with Debbie helps keep the church running;

A brilliant teacher, and Pastor of Youth,

Yet she’ll not miss the chance to be funny!

In charge of the worship, our own Donna Keise,

A beautiful leader of song;

With Elisha and Julie right there at her side,

The praises just never go wrong!

And husband to her, the mighty Lance Keise,

Of deacons in church he was first;

Loyal and faithful, honest and true,

And completely redeemed from the curse!

Travelling from far, yet faithful in service,

Are Edward and Reverend Pryce;

So loving and thoughtful, such wonderful hosts,

They add a new meaning to nice!

But they’d struggle to be here, without getting a lift,

Making Ronaldo and Alexia so useful;

Yet they are a blessing, in their very own right,

With a developing ministry – Crucial!

Can’t forget Rita and Errol and Sam,

The Longrins from Stowlawn in Bilston;

Another devoted and worshipping family,

We’re so glad they’re a part of the Kingdom.

There’s hope for the future in the youth of our church,

Toni-Ann’s keyboards, Antonio’s drumming;

Matthew’s ushering and music, the songs of Elisha,

While Brittany, Sam and Amari keep coming.

Of course we mustn’t forget Matthew – Baker that is,

Whose attendance is up with the best;

Plus he often brings friends, or his big brother Carl,

Offers lifts, yep, we really are blessed!

So after a year, when Me and Cynthia turned up

It didn’t take long to decide;

That the worship and fellowship were wondrous indeed,

So we both got on board for the ride!

But soon we were getting involved from the front,

In leading and prayer and in teaching;

We’re in for the long haul – it’s a year gone already!

As for God and His Word we keep reaching!

Now we have moved to another church building,

And we’re agreed that it really is nice;

It’s clean and it’s bright and we’ve plenty of space,

And there’s even a reduction in price!

I could go on and on, but for time I must stop

But let’s not forget what we have here;

A church that is special in so many ways,

Where God fills you with hope and good cheer.

The Lord has done great things for us,

Whereof we are truly glad;

To Him be the honour and glory and praise,

For the fabulous time that we’ve had!
